Average house removal costs is difficult to pin down, largely because there are many variables to consider in any relocation. No two customers’ needs are the same. Of course nobody wants to end up paying for extras or services they don’t actually require.

In short, a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t really work for anyone.

With all that in mind, here’s our rough guide to estimating an average house removal cost in the London area – and what we believe you, as the customer, should expect from a quality packing and moving service in return.

The basic costs of a house move

One of the first expenses you need to figure out when booking a removals service is the basic cost of the van(s) you require. More information on the various transport options we offer in our clean, well-maintained fleet is available on our handy Help me choose a van page.

Cost-wise, you can also check out detailed rates per hour for each of the van types we operate in our detailed price guide. Happy2Move prices start from £40 per hour. Each price stated includes your professional removals personnel. The pricing guide shows alternate rates for differing van sizes, plus 1, 2, or 3+ dedicated moving assistants, depending on the size of the job.

In addition, we’ve provided a clear breakdown of some common ‘extras’, i.e. additional charges that may need to be appended to certain jobs in and around London. These will depend on the specific circumstances, locations or timings of the move, and can include such common factors as:

 

  • After-hours bookings

 

Our man and van teams are available 7 days a week in London and the surrounding areas, but we maintain a core list of daily slots starting at 9am, 12pm and 3pm. We’re happy to take bookings for removals outside of these core hours for a surcharge. In addition we detail the additional cost up front.

 

  • Pick-up/drop-off outside London, but within M25

 

We’ll gladly provide our full suite of services for clients needing to move anywhere within the M25, including UB, WD, IG and EN postcodes. However, for jobs that take us outside central London, we also detail our additional surcharge and minimum slot duration in full.

Congestion charges, ULEZ charges, etc

Where applicable for pick-ups and drop-offs in affected zones of London, we’ll add an additional fee of £15.00 (congestion) and/or £12.50 (ULEZ) respectively.

We feel that this highly modular and completely transparent pricing structure makes us somewhat unique among London removals companies, many of whom will only levy these sorts of small ‘add-ons’ during the billing stage.

It also enables us to offer some of the cheapest removals in London at the same time. Because you get to see every aspect of your quoted price up front, you won’t end up paying for any services you didn’t really need to make use of.
