How We’re Trying to Help People Move Home Safely During the Coronavirus Outbreak

By Manny Sahmbi || Posted April 3, 2020

First of all, we want to make it very clear that we’re not urging people to move home during this time. The government’s advice is, where possible, to delay moving to a new property while the current restrictions are in place throughout the UK.

If you’re not able to delay your completion day or the day you change tenancy from one property to another, we are here to help. We wanted to put this blog post together to explain what we’re doing to make essential moves as safe as possible during this challenging time.

When it comes to removal companies and moves that must go ahead, the government is urging us to ‘take all sensible precautions to ensure the move can happen safely’.

This is, of course, our highest priority, so we’re now operating a contactless removals service.

Contactless service

So what does a contactless removals service mean? Here’s a break down for you:

All contracts and payments will be contactless

Payments, paperwork and contracts will all be done either over the phone or via email.

PPE for movers

Where at all possible we are equipping our movers with appropriate PPE to keep them and you safe. Occasionally this is not possible because understandably stocks are running low, but we’re doing our very best!

Social distancing

We are of course following the government guidelines on social distancing with all clients, staying two meters away during the move.

No passengers in vans

We decided that a sensible measure at this time would be to not let passengers travel in our vans. As with everything else here, this is done for your safety and that of our movers.

Washing hands

Our movers must wash their hands regularly and they are also using hand sanitiser. Additionally, we are wiping down our vans with sanitiser at the end of each day.

We can move without you there

This is likely not possible in the current lockdown. However, if you are able to leave your keys in a safe place and be anywhere other than your property, we can do the move without you there, and put your keys back in the safe place once finished. When the lockdown is removed, if there are still social distancing restrictions, this might be a good solution for you.

You can find more information about moving home during the Coronavirus outbreak here. We wish you the best of health and a safe move.
